Dragons and EntsRules for Middle Earth

Dragons and Ents have bespoke movement, attack and vulnerability rules.

How it works

Dragons fly 24" or run 18", can land on a figure to crush it (saved on 5-6, the survivor then runs two moves), and are hurt by missiles: per hit roll 2d6, 11-12 kills, 9-10 turns it on the other side, 2-3 enrages it to breathe flame twice. Ents move 3" (6" charging); Sauron's figures coming within 6" of an Ent or Ent-controlled tree roll to survive (Orcs survive on 1-2, Men on 1-3); Ents are immune to death and morale in an Entwood.

For each hit by such a weapon, cast two dice; a roll of 11 or 12 will kill the dragon, a cast of 9 or 10 will drive the dragon to attack the other side on the next turn

Elephants that are forced to recoil or flee rampage one hex in a random direction, displacing and disrupting any unit in the way.

How it works

When an elephant unit is forced to recoil or flee, it moves only 1 hex, in a direction chosen by a d6 (one of the 6 hex sides). Any enemy or friendly unit in that hex is automatically displaced and becomes disrupted. The elephant repeats this in each of its side's movement phases until it is eliminated or is no longer disrupted. The army lists add that elephants can shoot in any direction on first contact.

When elephants are forced to recoil or flee they move only 1-hex in any one of 6 directions dictated by a D6. Any enemy or friendly unit is automatically displaced and becomes disrupted.

Dragons, frost giants, trolls, draugr and wolves with new creature abilities.

How it works

Monsters are costed with the open architecture and gain abilities Fearless (never tests morale), Fly (16" ignoring terrain) and Specter (pass through walls). The Hunt the Beast scenario uses hidden encounter markers rolled to reveal monsters.

Fearless (+15 points): This creature feels no fear and never takes a morale test.
