Rank, Precedence, Commitment and The BlockA Coat of Steel

Noble rank governs who may command whom; political commitment drives courage and checks; captured nobles face ransom, exchange or execution.

How it works

Ranks are Heir, Peer, Lord and Captain with strict precedence; up to four Props per host whose loss hurts the Chronicle. Commanders are Committed, Well-Wishers or Uncommitted, which sets Courage and Faltering results, and family enmities cause Mistrust or Treachery. After battle captives may be exchanged for near kin, and enmity or a Bloodthirsty host commander sends them to the block.

If there is enmity between one of the Victorious ward commanders and any captive, the captive must go to the block.
