Ranging / bracketing

Repeated fire at the same target improves accuracy, lost when the firer switches target.

How games do it 4 games

2fire

Consecutive fire on the same target accumulates splash markers that improve accuracy.

How it works

After shooting, the firer places one of its two splash markers in the target's space, and the second on a subsequent turn's shot at the same ship; each gives -1 to the shooting number. Markers move with the target ship and are all removed if the firer switches targets.

After shooting, place one of your Splash Markers in the enemy space. Place your second Splash Marker when you fire at the ship on a subsequent turn. (All Splash Markers are removed when you shoot at a different ship.)

Second round at same targetDunn-Kempf

A tank's second round in a bound at the same target has a better hit probability.

How it works

Tanks may fire 2 rounds per bound at the same or different targets. If the second round is at the same target, 1 is subtracted from the tens die of the hit roll (a better chance to hit). If a different target is engaged, the second round needs the same roll as a first-round hit. After two rounds the tank may not move that bound.

If the second round is fired at the same target the hit probability is increased by subtracting 1 from the tens die.

Firing at same target and rangeLoose Files and American Scramble

Artillery gains +1 when firing at the same target at the same range as the previous turn, and -1 when it switches target.

How it works

Artillery effect is rolled on one D6 per gun with modifiers. +1 applies if the gun fires at the same target at the same range as in the previous turn; -1 applies when firing at a new target. This rewards steady fire and penalises switching.

+1: Firing at same target, at same range, as in previous turn. -1: Firing at new target.
