How games do it 5 games

2fire

Rolling two or more 1s means shot passes over and may hit another ship in the line of fire.

How it works

If a broadside roll includes two or more 1s, one damage point is inflicted on any ship, friend or foe, in the line of fire within 6 squares.

If you ever roll two or more 1s then some shot has passed over the target – inflict 1 point of damage on any ship (friend or foe!) that is in line of fire and not more than 6 squares away.

Firing into a mixed scrumAlamo Ruleser (Remember the Alamo)

Shooting into a melee can kill friendly figures.

How it works

Musket fire into a mixed scrum kills a friendly figure on a roll of 1. Cannon fire into a mixed scrum has half of its kills applied to friendly figures.

If firing into a mixed scrum, a 1 kills a friendly figure.

Friendly Fire (optional)Canvas Eagles

An aircraft over its own trench line may be shot at by its own ground troops.

How it works

Optional rule. Whenever an aircraft flies over its own trenchline hexes the owner rolls 1d6. On 1-2 the friendly ground troops fire on the aircraft; on 3-6 they hold their fire.

When an aircraft flies over its own trenchline hexes, it must test for friendly fire. Roll 1d6: 1-2: Ground troops fire on the friendly aircraft; 3, 4, 5 or 6: Ground troops hold their fire.

Shells affect friend and foe / deviating strikesMicro Armour: The Game - WWII (2nd Edition)

Artillery impact markers attack every stand beneath them regardless of side, and deviating fire or air strikes hit whatever stand is at the new spot, friend or foe.

How it works

Every stand covered by an artillery impact sheaf is attacked regardless of nationality. If the 'to deviate' cohesion roll fails, the impact sheaf shifts (1D8 direction, 1D6 distance for air strikes) and attacks whatever stand occupies the new location, friend or foe. Stands that move into an impact marker in the following Movement Phase also roll for effect.

All stands in an artillery impact sheaf are subject to attack, regardless of nationality. Artillery shells affect friend and foe alike!

Drunk / Deranged trait (random target)The Rules With No Name

A drunk character may be forced to fire at a randomly selected target, friend or foe.

How it works

A Drunk (Deranged) figure throws each turn; on a 1 or 2 he throws again on a sub-table. Result 3 makes him stagger one die forward, turn in a random direction and fire at a randomly selected target, friend or foe, if one is available. Result 2 is the same but he fires at any enemy target that presents itself.

as 2 above, but must fire at a randomly selected target (friend or foe) if one is available.
