A single force-wide cohesion level is the target number for almost every check in the game.
How it works
Each side has a force cohesion level (typically about 11-17, set by scenario or TO&E). Any task calls for 1D20, modified cumulatively, which succeeds if equal to or below the cohesion level. The same roll gates firing ('to fire'), moving, artillery arrival and deviation, rallying, loading, engineering work, airborne landings and command replacement. Additions are bad and subtractions good, so lower rolls are always better.
Cohesion is the single most important mechanic of play! It is the very core of Micro Armour: The Game (MATG). There is generally a “cohesion roll” associated with any sort of task a stand or group of stands attempts.
