Damage markers & Aircraft Data SheetCanvas Eagles

Hits are resolved by drawing red/blue damage markers blind from a cup and crossing off section boxes.

How it works

35 two-sided markers name a section (fuselage, tail, wing, engine) and number of boxes; red markers are drawn first, then blue. An aircraft is destroyed when all boxes and triangles of a wing, fuselage or tail section are crossed off; total engine damage forces gliding. Same-altitude front/rear hits are redirected (e.g. tail to engine on tractors).

These markers are drawn by the target player from an opaque container.

Hull, crew and equipment damage are recorded as squares on a ship record.

How it works

Hits remove hull and crew squares (heavy guns +1 square on some results); waterline losses are tracked as a percentage, and once all crew squares are gone the ship sinks in 1d6 turns.

When all squares are gone, the ship sinks in 1d6 turns.

Scoring tables (scorers)The Jane Naval War Game

Each ship has a plan-and-elevation scoring sheet showing armour, guns and sections on which damage is drawn.

How it works

The scorer shows the ship divided into 25-foot sections with armour and gun positions; penetrations and section damage per projectile are printed on the sheets. Temporarily disabled guns are noted with the move they may fire again.

Sheets are provided with all the normal penetrations printed on them, as well as the amount of damage; there is therefore no occasion to learn the figures here given.

Ship Record CardsTrafalgar 1805

Each ship's card tracks rating, masts, damage boxes and per-broadside gunnery.

How it works

Record cards show name, rating, nationality, masts standing, battle damage boxes and Gunnery on each broadside, crossed off as hits are suffered. Cards replace table markers so opponents judge effect only by how enemy ships manoeuvre and fire; an umpire may keep all records.

Then the only way to judge the effectiveness of your shooting will be to see how enemy ships man oeuvre and fire back.
