Battle of Aughrim Black Powder amendments

Normally only the Army Commander may allow a re-roll for a failed Brigade command roll. For a 15-brigade game a Divisional Commander functions like an Army Commander and allows a Command re-roll for any Brigade commander in his Division with whom he is in base-to-base contact.

we introduced a ‘Divisional’ Commander, who essentially functioned like an Army Commander, and allowed a Command reroll for any Brigade commanders in his Division with whom he was in base-to-base contact.

If a line of sight can be drawn from the Army Commander to a Brigade Commander, that commander gets +1 Command Rating. Usable once per turn and the beneficiary must be declared before any command rolls, which keeps the Army Commander on high ground.

If you could draw a line of sight from the Army commander to your Brigade Commander, you got +1. This can only be used once per turn

One battalion at the head of the Bloody Hollow re-entrant may fire overhead; the thick northern hedge line counts as light cover for Jacobites; the Attibrasil crossing counts as difficult going, and dismounted dragoons count as skirmishers for all firing.

we now allow overhead fire from one battalion at the head of the re-entrant.

Black Powder ranges for 28mm are simply halved. Williamite batteries that historically fired at 1200-1600m are placed on the board edge but count as long range throughout the game.

Instead, we opted to have them on the board edge but count them as ‘long range’ throughout the game.

Infantry battalion bases are 16cm wide (160m frontage), cavalry 10cm x 6cm, and artillery batteries 10cm x 8cm treated as one gun, which drove the choice of 10mm figures.

I decided on a ground scale of 1cm = 10m, which results in a battlefield with a depth of 182cm by 360cm long.

Lutterell has Command Rating 7 and his troops count as Wavering to reflect possible treachery or withdrawal; Bourke's Regiment in the castle are Poor Shooters with -1 on all firing to reflect ammunition problems.

Lutterel is given a Command Rating of 7 to reflect his reluctance to engage, and his troops count as Wavering
